LADIES CLUB NEWS

The Final of the 2010 Novice Singles was played Tuesday 6 September between Mary Maloney and Mia DeRooy. Mary hung on to win 31 – 25. Well done, both players.

The Final of the Consistency Singles was also played Tuesday 6 September between Judy Rogers and Val Roberts. Val won a very close game: 152 to 149. Congratulations!

The Minor Singles commenced Tuesday 13 September and the semi finals saw Judy Hall play Val Roberts and Judy Rogers play Jan Lillye. The winners were Val Roberts and Jan Lillye.

The Final between Val and Jan will be played Thursday 22 September.

Father’s Day Bowls Saturday 3rd September attracted 44 players (equal numbers of men and women) and was enjoyed by all.

The entry form for the Major Minor Pairs went up last Tuesday and will be drawn next Tuesday, the 27th September with play due to start Tuesday 11 October.

• The Selected Fours Carnival Day has been postponed until Tuesday 22 November
• The Jolley Hamer is scheduled for Wednesday 12 October at home.
• The Hayes Miller is set down for Thursday 10 November at home.

Judy Hall, Judy Nicolaides and Jenny Heffernan will play in the District Minor Singles starting Tuesday 27 September. We wish them well.

WELFARE

Glad to hear that Dorothy Sullivan’s first cataract operation was successful and she is going fine. Dorothy has her second operation on 5th October, all the best Dorothy.

Men's Club Report October Bulletin 2011

The final of the Mixed Fours Championships, the last event in our competition season resulted in a close and exciting tussle, with the team of Jan King, Laurel Edmonds, Michael and Peter Delamont having a narrow one shot margin (17-16) over the team of Dick Bowen, Gonnie Derks, Dorothy Sullivan and Wally Davidson. Congratulations to all players for a great game in doubt till the last bowl

Whilst the 2012 Pennants season does not commence until mid February we need to advise the district of team numbers by 21st November accordingly we ask that all those interested in playing pennants (including reserves) to place their names on the pennants list. Selectors will be arranging trial matches both at home and with other nearby clubs in due course. Club Pennants wear is available/or can be obtained. Bowls Secretary or selectors can arrange if needed.
Pig Day will be held on Saturday 15th October and as only one green will be available entry is restricted to the first 14 teams to enter. On the responses to date this figure will be attained with reserves necessary.
Thursday Social Bowls sees the return of “stubby” prizes to 3 players each week in addition to winning rink prizes.
Lucky numbers are to be reintroduced to Friday bowls with 2 x $10.00 vouchers awarded as well as winning rink.
For the present Friday Bowls will alternate between nominated pairs/triples and single entry mixed bowls with open draw.
Saturday bowls will recommence on 8th October conducted by Lyle and Pam Stuart and an entry sheet has been posted for 2 x games 11 ends open draw.
We have a visit from West Taree travelling bowlers set down for Monday 17th October. Bowls to commence at 1pm. They have 30 bowlers (ladies and gents). Whilst Monday is an unusual day for us we would like to see as many of our bowlers as possible to welcome and play with our visitors. An entry sheet will be placed in due course
President Merv Lillye advises that Gerringong Hardware, who provide weekly vouchers for our raffle prizes, have agreed to increase their sponsorship with an annual sum for our Toast of the Coast bowls. He also advises that Ray White Real Estate have renewed their sponsorship for the Toast of the Coast Bowls for a further 12 months.
Both these organisations are great supporters of our Club and their financial support is most appreciated.
